Caring for Animals and Benefiting People for 67 Years!

AWA Needs Space

Our small, successful charity has grown each year and manages to help record-breaking numbers of pets and people. Yet, in the spirit of our founders who saw a need and sought to fill it, we realize there is a lot more we can do. For example, the lack of dog kennels and cat rooms is the only reason AWA is unable to double adoptions. It is time to transition from the outdated shelter facility to a modern one.

In 2013, we began a three-phase facility plan. We completed Phase I with the construction of an expanded clinic. Phase II is fast approaching. It includes a new modern animal shelter with double the kennel space to care for 100 shelter dogs and 200 shelter cats, "real life rooms" which closely mimic a home environment, adoption space to work with clients, education, and training space for youth programs, and behavior and training classes.
